APC chieftain berates Abia govt
UMUAHIA—A FORMER House of Representatives member and All Progressives Congress, APC chieftain in Abia State, Hon. Acho Obioma has described the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP administration in the state under Governor Okezie Ikpeazu as “impotent and not working for the progress of the people.” Obioma also accused the Ikpeazu government of indulging in “high scale contract inflation,” saying that Abia people should not expect anything wonderful from the government. Acho Obioma, who is aspiring to challenge Senator Theodore Orji representing Abia Central Senatorial district in the Senate, spoke in Umuahia, weekend, when he hosted some zonal leaders of his party to inform them of his intention to contest the senatorial seat next year. According to him, Abia people are already waiting for the APC to remove Ikpeazu and take over the government next year so that they would enjoy democratic dividends like their brothers and sisters in other South East states. “Abia people are eager, waiting and preparing to see the removal of the Ikpeazu government. We have an impotent government, a government that is not advancing the progress of the people. The people are not happy because nothing is working here; workers are not paid their salaries, pensioners are owed several months pension areas, they have no new ideas for the people. “The government is impotent, just inflating contracts. Look at the Aba road in Umuahia, I will keep mentioning it, a road of about 300 metres, they awarded it for over N1 billion and yet they could not complete it,” Obioma alleged. The former federal law maker said he was eminently qualified to be in the Senate for Abia Central, boasting that he would defeat the incumbent, Senator Orji during the election. Obioma urged members of APC to be prepared for the battle ahead, assuring them that their votes would count as the PDP no longer has the security operatives and INEC to allegedly rig the elections.
